God, I can never get over how amazing this song is! It's the sound that's most recognizably their's and I really wish they would have at least made a side MV for it or something! It's so in your face and motivating, it's great! Can you imagine what the MV would have looked like??? Ugh, but only in my dreams! ;__;

I guessed the MV would have been pretty cool, but I've never thought of Big Deal as title track material, haha. It starts off strong but eases into a rather slow beat, while aligning to FACE and Action...falls a tad short like Beautiful Ghost.
I like the song! I really do, but I guess I just also liked FACE and Action too much that Big Deal doesn't quite seem to deliver that same punch for me OTL The way it trails off makes it feels like a filler song for me, and I would liked it better if it didn't fall flat in terms of dynamics compared to their earlier titles. Still, the whole vibe was pretty close to the dark image and with some work in choreo could make it a decent title.
I would have thought Climax to come pretty close as title material instead, but it turns out that the boys had been aiming for ballads all this while ;; Even though I knew 3/5 members wanted a ballad-ish song, I really wasn't betting on Love Without Love as a potential title o.o as much as that's my favourite song in the album besides Lend Me Your Shoulder.
Also, I just have really peculiar and particular tastes haha :x
변하지 않기로 해요 너와나, 내 옆에 있어줄래요 언제나 대 옆에 딱 붙어 있을 거야 영원히, oh baby

Hahah, right right. I prefer a dark, rock and roll type sound. I love all genre's of music, but I love anything with a dark sound. The way the vocals went into this crazy sounding harmony just... UGH, IT DESTROYS ME EVERY TIME IT'S SO AMAZING. So incredibly powerful. It's that subtle kind of power that you know is lurking inside of someone, waiting to pounce on you and rip you apart. That's what I get from it.
I don't know if necessarily title track would be best for KPOP, since there are very particular things that get popular in KPOP, but as a side-track with an MV? It could have hit a lot of fans, because a lot of L.O.V.E.s got into them because of their darker/electronic sound.
FWIW, the first time I heard it I agreed with you. I thought for sure it should have been the comeback song but yeah...it lacks something. The darker, punchier, full bodied sound I'd gotten familiar with from Face and Action. They've been leaning on ballads a lot but I think that kicking it up a notch with one or two dance songs would get them back in the popular eye. I mean, I love the pretty stuff but I'm missing some serious grit.

I feel like they have def been leaning on Ballads because that's what the general Korean audience enjoys most. It's like their way of playing it safe, but playing it safe never gets anyone to notice you, unfortunately. I really want them to come back with something dark again. Something in your face with a great choreo!
I love this song, and I know it is amazing, but I can't picture it as single or tittle song, I cant come up with a video concept that would make it comercial enough... I love the song and it reflects NU'EST attitude and concept great and probably is one of the favs among fans because it reminds of 2012 era... but I just dont see it as comeback... Comebacks are meant to be fun, catchy, dynamic... and I think GoodBye Bye is the one <3
Besides NU'EST is getting more flower boys concept, and Big Deal just cant get that to be portait xD

They could still give it an MV, though. (Granted, they probably don't have the money for it). There are plenty of groups that will deliver two music videos for a comeback (for instance, Red Velvet with Ice Cream Cake and Automatic).

They did story book lyric video / jacket instead. I liked it.
I do miss their edgier stuff so I'm hoping for more of that (along with the wonderful stuff they're doing now) in the future. Face, Action, Beautiful Ghost, Big Deal, Judgment, I'll even give Sleep Talking a pass etc. I want to see them pull some of that toughness back in somewhere and sell something with a less mournful narrative. More grit. I know they've got the skill and the choreo. Gyaaahh.
Can you imagine something like Vixx's "Hyde" with Nu'est? They do so well with strong concepts like those; something darker and creepier would be awesome.

Yes I will take both PLEASE AND THANK YOU. We know they can act. Incredibly well, in fact. MOAR.
(and they'll always be cuties. Cherry slayed me.)
Same! I love the GBB MV but I wanted something powerful to get them back to their roots, too. It's what got most people into NU'EST and I've noticed a lot of people have left the fandom because they're starting to do stuff that is a little more typical of other groups (which makes sense, Pledis is losing money, they're playing it safe right now). Plus the album was called Re:Birth and the song is all about a new start, rising to the occassion, courage, all things that could tie into being born again, whereas GBB is a song about trying to get over someone you were in love with, lmao. (Which I suppose could still tie in to the Re:Birth theme, but not in a very... typical way).
Plus with Judgement, it seemed like NU'EST was originally headed in that direction. And with the opening of Big Deal, it just feels very much like: We're back and we're a whole new NU'EST so you better be prepared! The song would have been a great comeback song, even if it was just a bonus MV, because then they could have promoted it twice as well on stages (which I don't believe they did promote it at all?) I mean, a lot of people probably wouldn't find anything commercial about EXO's MAMA either, and even though it supposedly didn't do all that well, it did prove that you can promote a rock-heavy song on a stage and make a music video for it that works. It's just most people into KPOP probably aren't so used to the rock genre in general, so to them they can't imagine it being commercialized, but it is all the time.
I actually think they need to be careful with how much cute they do. As much as I love their cute side, it will get overplayed and not have much appeal soon, especially as they begin to get older. People will expect them to be mature (though Cherry did have mature lyrics, just with a cute flair to them, lmao). I just know that if NU'EST treads too far from their original concept... they might start to lose even more fans, because with every comeback, more and more fans express how they miss the more powerful concepts, and they're losing interest in the group because they've been doing lots of ballad-style or cute-style songs. =\ I don't think there's a problem with having variety, I think it's great, but they were introduced to the KPOP world as a badass electro style group, and they've been doing less of that with each comeback.
Nu'est always have strong songs in the albums but not as single or tittles. People say we need stuff like face back but I honestly think we don't, they like the music they do, once in a while strong but mostly sweet. Their personalities are like that, even Aron says he likes better this concept than those. They look more mature for me in GBB than in any other, it definitely doest look like "another" cheesy song for me I still thinking Big deal wouldn't have been a good comeback, it lacks that pop catchy part that singles need. And they came back to dubstep which I do appreciate. They need to change, every other idol from 2012-2013 is doing dark-badass stuff and then is Nu'est. And like you haven't seen the symbols GBB contains? It has a story for every one of them, it shows you their rebirth in a very beautiful way.
GBB is a very beautiful narrative way above and beyond the breakup theme. They're literally breaking up with a meaningful part of their identities or highlighting some heavy struggles. It hurts my heart to watch it (Baekho and Minhyun especially) but it was also the right song to highlight for the re:birth concept for that reason. I think, though, that they need to mix it up a little now. I want to see some of the darker stuff again in addition to the absolute beauty that is their new sound. I think they are beginning to sound more like Shinhwa every day, and I mean that in a good way. We all know they're very goofy, but I think about people like JR who NEED that harder dynamic to really illustrate how powerful a rapper he is. It's HARD to rap in a ballad. He does it very well, but I think it's time they throw the kid a bone. Judgment was fantastic. Aron and JR are seamless. This group is unique in that they CAN go hard WHILE being artistic, staying true to themselves, and trying several different tones in one album and still do well.
Face though...it really set a tone they've fallen away from and anticipate more of as they get older. Eventually the cute will give way to the sincere as they age, and I'm very optimistic for their future. I think they can do ANYTHING. But will they? lol
Let's see what Korea has in store for them when they get back from Adventures with Ariola.

This is what I mean They keep growing. I'm bad is a single where you see they are no longer kids and I am pretty amused that they keep getting better at vocals. Besides Baekho really had a hard time during gbb BC of his surgery and yeah the mv really express their deep feelings and I think that if that's what they wanted to do, and the song was catchy it was simply perfect. I am down with them mixing. Actually I likes the way they kinda mixed in gbb, like there was symbols and shaterring glass and the end was bright. I hope they follow that path. I liked a lot rebirth, like the songs are masterpieces, maybe they needed to explote more and have 2 songs for comeback but Baekho was already sick so I am kinda glad they didn't explote it that much. Besides they had a tour(? XD And much to work on. I hope next comeback, what ever it is or it sounds like, join the fandom to get them to a decent chart rank n.n
